Fewer sounds to learn

Catalan has only 9 vowel sounds and 18 consonant sounds — much fewer than English!

Surprising similarities

Catalan and English share many words, some by coincidence, others due to a common origin.

Shared vocabulary roots

Over 80% of formal Catalan words (ending in -ció, -ment, -al, -ista, -itat) have English equivalents you can recognize.

And the most difficult thing…?

The hardest part about Catalan may be telling the time... but don't worry, even if you say it your way, everyone will understand you!.
